And so we arrived at the grand climax to the 2021-22 season – our annual Digital Image of the Year competition took place on Zoom on Wednesday 22 June with members invited to submit their best work of the season.

As set out in the competition rules, members may enter up to two digital images that have “previously been entered … in one of that season’s six club league competitions”.

Our independent judge this year was Lloyd Moore DPAGB BPE4*, a Past-President of the Watford Camera Club and a very experienced CACC judge.

After a quick run through all the images, Lloyd remarked that they were all good images with no technical issues – “so it just comes down to the ones I like the most”.

41 images were entered for the competition.  They covered a wide range of genres – landscape, seascape, architecture, candid/street, portrait, flowers, wildlife, still life, abstract, motorsport, composite, and more.  And Lloyd provided a helpful critique of each image.

After Roger Gage had graciously withdrawn his “Design Icon” entry as ineligible, the results were

  • 1st place – “TOGETHERNESS” by Patrick Linford
  • 2nd place – “44 LEADS ON THE TRACK” by Terry Godber
  • 3rd place – STEPPING OUT” by Tricia Meers
  • Highly Commended – “A BREATHE OF AIR” by Chris Warby
  • Highly Commended – “DIMMING OF THE DAY” by David Bolam
  • Highly Commended – “HAWKER HUNTER” by John Curd
  • Highly Commended – “WINDOWS” by Carol Curd
  • Commended – “DO YOU EVER GET THAT FEELING” by David Manning
  • Commended – “MOUNT KILIMANJARO” by Chris Warby
  • Commended – “AQUILIGA” by Wendy Taylor
  • Commended – “PEEKABOO” by Sandra Eve

Congratulations – and the Trophy – to … er … Patrick!?
