Our Landscape Competition took place on Wednesday 6 June.

This is a biennial competition for the Landscape Cup, sponsored by Barbara Fleming ARPS DPAGB, to encourage club members to go out and do more landscape photography.

The Landscape Cup alternates with our other biennial competition, the Howard Morris Memorial Trophy (for monochrome prints).

It is open to all club members (with no sections) who may submit up to two images (print or PDI) which have not been entered in any previous club competition.

The subject matter is of course “landscape” and there is no specification about colour or monochrome.  The rules of the competition state

“Landscape photographs typically capture the presence of the natural world, traditionally showing little or no human activity, featuring subjects such as strongly defined landforms, weather, and ambient light.  However, Landscape can also focus on man-made features or disturbances of landscapes, including rural or urban settings or industrial areas.  Within the scope of the LBPC Landscape Cup competition, ‘Seascapes’ are permitted.  However, they MUST include a significant proportion of land or coastline as the main subject.  Note: the genre ‘Intimate Landscape IS NOT included within the scope of the Biennial Landscape Cup.”

Our independent judge for the competition was Steven Galvin.  Steven is a freelance photographer, a member of both Marlow Camera Club and Amersham Photographic Society, a CACC judge (since 2017), and speaker.  He is also the Social Media Coordinator and a committee member of the Digital Imaging Group, the Visual Art Group, and the Thames Valley Region of the RPS.  Similarly, he is also the Social Media Coordinator and a committee member of the CACC. He has visited us on numerous occasions both as a judge and a speaker.

After Steven had delivered his critiques and made his judgements, the results were as below.

“Veil of the Woodland” by David Manning!

Congratulations to David – a lovely, subtle rendition of a shrouded woodland scene.
