Our sixth and final internal league competition of the 2025-26 season took place on Wednesday 13 May.

The set subject, for both prints and projected digital images, was “Hats”.

The Programme notes explained the brief.  “We see people wearing a wide variety of hats all around us throughout the year and are a great opportunity to create some fun, creative images.  Your images need to contain two or more hats of any kind, and the hats must be the main focus of the image.”

Accordingly, the entries included all sorts of hats – fedoras, cloth caps, baseball caps, berets, beanies, buckets, and millinery, to name just a few.  And, where not in black and white photographs, they were all the colours of the rainbow.

There was also the usual wide variety of approaches including action, still life, street/candid, environmental portrait, pattern, wedding, humour, and even abstract.

Our independent CACC judge for the competition was the very experienced Damon Guy from Marlow Camera Club.  Damon has been a keen photographer all is life.  He is a professional photographer, writer, webmaster, website developer, and teacher.  He runs and edits Photokonnexion, a website that aims to help photographers of all abilities with articles providing new insights, skills and techniques.

In his detailed critique of all the images, Damon was keen to assess “the overall strength of impact of the hats” in the images.

Each entry was marked out of 20.  Marks for this competition count towards the season’s Print and Digital Image Championships.

The top performers in the competition were as below.
