Our Creative Vision Award competition took place on Wednesday 20 May.

Sponsored by past-Chairman Mike Kitchingman ARPS, who has also provided the trophy, this internal competition is now an annual event.

Mike’s great love is “artistic and creative photography in all its varieties”.  He has indicated that the Creative Vision Award “will be assessed for originality of concept and faithfulness to the theme.  The theme will change yearly, but the same basic tenets, namely creative photography embracing visual art, will apply”.

The competition theme for 2026 was “Light and Shadow”.  The Programme Notes added:

“Rather than simply documenting a subject, you are encouraged to use contrast, silhouette, reflection, and negative space to shape mood, tell a story, or reveal a new perspective.

The goal is to transform ordinary scenes into visually striking images by intentionally controlling illumination and darkness – highlighting form, texture, and emotion through creative composition and timing.”

The competition rules permit both prints and projected digital images.

Our independent judge for the competition was Colin Mill from MK City Photographic Society, a very experienced photographer and CACC judge.  He has judged competitions at LBPC on numerous occasions.  He is a prolific amateur photographer who, although primarily a landscape photographer, is equally at home photographing almost anything.

After Colin’s critiques and deliberations, the results were as below.
