The fourth internal club competition of the 2019-20 season took place on Wednesday 22 January 2020.

The set subject, for both prints and projected digital images (PDIs), was “’People”.  As usual, the entries displayed a wide variety of subjects, approaches and styles. But street/candid photography and travel shots, in both colour and monochrome, predominated.

The set subject, for both prints and projected digital images (PDIs), was “’People” – with the added briefing “Any photograph in which the predominant/focal interest of the image is of people.  It must show two or more people showing most of their bodies (no head or above waist close-ups or portrait).  The people in the photograph must be the focal subject.  However, the image could also depict their environment or a broader scene.  Can be candid or posed.  Must be a live human being (manikins, statues, ornaments will not be accepted).”

Our independent judge for this competition was Lloyd Moore CPAGB DPAGB BPE3*, a very experienced photographer and President of Watford Camera Club.  He prefaced his judging by explaining that, to give more space to separate/distinguish between the better images, CACC judges now regard 16 marks as appropriate for “a decent camera club image”.  It follows, therefore, that “17 and above is better than average”.

The entries displayed a wide variety of approaches and styles.  But street/candid photography and travel shots, in both colour and monochrome, predominated.

Each entry was marked out of twenty.  Marks for this competition count towards the season’s Print Championship (Sections One and Two) and the Digital Image Championship (Sections One and Two) – see the Internal competitions, Rules for entry page on the website for details CLICK HERE.
