Our Landscape Competition took place on Wednesday 15 May.

This is a biennial competition for the Landscape Cup, sponsored by Barbara Fleming ARPS DPAGB, to encourage club members to go out and do more landscape photography.

The Landscape Cup alternates with our other biennial competition, the Howard Morris Memorial Trophy (for monochrome prints).

It is open to all club members (with no sections) who may submit up to two images (print or PDI) which have not been entered in any previous club competition.

The subject matter is of course “landscape” and there is no specification about colour or monochrome.  The rules of the competition state

“Landscape photographs typically capture the presence of the natural world, traditionally showing little or no human activity, featuring subjects such as strongly defined landforms, weather, and ambient light.  However, Landscape can also focus on man-made features or disturbances of landscapes, including rural or urban settings or industrial areas.  Within the scope of the LBPC Landscape Cup competition, ‘Seascapes’ are permitted.  However, they MUST include a significant proportion of land or coastline as the main subject.  Note: the genre ‘Intimate Landscape‘ IS NOT included within the scope of the Biennial Landscape Cup.”

Our independent judge for the competition was Amanda Wright, an experienced CACC judge.  She is the External Competitions Secretary of Ealing & Hampshire House Photographic Society and the “PAGB Competition & Exhibition” lead for CACC.

There were nine print and 35 digital entries for this competition.  And images demonstrated a wonderful variety of subject matter, location, and style across the landscape genre.

Amanda provided an incisive detailed critique of each image before making her judgements.  When all had been said and done, the results were as follows.
