Last Wednesday (27 November) we hosted Pinner Camera Club in the second match at the group stage of the annual NW Fed Competition.

This is an inter-club competition between ten members of the Federation of NW London Photographic Societies.

The group stage of the competition sees clubs compete in four groups.  The winners of each group go forward to the semi-finals.

For each match, each club submits 16 images – eight prints and eight projected images.  The images are marked out of 20 and the marks are aggregated over all the group matches to determine the winner of the group.

The competition has been running for over 25 years.  But this is only the second time LBPC has been involved.  We are in Group A with Pinner CC and this was the second match.

The judge for this event was Peter Prosser APAGB of Watford Camera Club, a most experienced photographer and CACC judge.  Peter is also a member of the CACC Committee and assists in the training of CACC judges.

After Peter had carefully considered and marked all the prints and then all the projected images, the marks were added up and the results were as follows

  • 1st – Pinner CC with 290 marks (prints 147, projected 143)
  • 2nd – Leighton Buzzard PC with 272 marks (prints 136, projected 136)

The top scoring prints were

  • “Lowry Centre Staircase” by Sally Kitchingman (Leighton Buzzard PC) – 20 marks plus a star
  • “Days End in Harmony” by Tim Dowd (Pinner CC) – 20 marks plus a star
  • “Banded Damselfly at Stockers” by Lew Wasserstein (Pinner CC) – 20 marks plus a star
  • “Grey Hornbill on a Stick” – by Lew Wasserstein (Pinner CC) – 20 marks plus a star

The top scoring projected images were

  • “Here’s Looking at You Kid” by John Curd (Leighton Buzzard PC) – 20 marks plus a star
  • “Skimming the Water” by Natalie Levy (Pinner CC) – 20 marks plus a star
  • “The Angry Sea” – by Tim Dowd (Pinner CC) – 20 marks plus a star

Our first match with Pinner CC took place on Monday 25 November at Pinner – when we were also well beaten.
