The judging of the twelfth Two Hemispheres International Competition has now been completed. The Two Hemispheres is an annual bilateral photographic competition between LBPC in the UK and Camberwell Camera Club in Melbourne, Australia. Since the competition started in 2009 LBPC have won five times, Camberwell have also won five times, and there has been one dead heat. So, the clubs seem to be pretty well matched.
Each club enters 30 PDIs and these are judged both in the UK and in Australia. Each entry is scored out of twenty and all the scores (from both the UK and the Australian judges) are aggregated to determine the winning club.
The competition is an “open” competition and the 60 entries this year provided – as ever – a wide variety of subjects, approaches and styles. The UK judge was Lloyd Moore DPAGB BPE4*, President of the Watford Camera Club and an experienced CACC judge. Lloyd recorded a video of his judging which was Zoomed at our LBPC meeting on Wednesday 3 March.
The Australian judge was Mario Mirabile, an eminent Melbourne photographer (miralightimaging.com). He produced written comments and scores which were read out alongside the UK judge’s comments and scores at the Camberwell CC meeting on Monday 8 March (with several LBPC members Zooming in).
Each entry was marked out of twenty. The top performers of the UK judging are presented below:
