Print and Digital Image of the Year Competitions

As the grand climax to the 2018-19 season, our annual Print and Digital Image of the Year competitions took place on Wednesday evening (12 June 2019). Members are invited to select their best work of the season, from entries submitted into the season’s Print Championship (Sections One and Two) and the Digital Image Championship (Sections One and Two).

As set out in the competition rules on the club website, Members could enter up to two prints or digital images that they have “previously entered in one of this season’s six club competitions”.

There are NO Section 1 or Section 2 categories in this competition. All members compete equally against each other and unlike the individual league competitions, individual scores are not awarded to images. Instead, the top images are awarded First Place, Second Place and Third Place. In addition, some images may be awarded  ‘Highly Commended’ and ‘Commended’ at the Judge’s discretion. See the Internal competitions, Rules for entry page on the website for details CLICK HERE.

This year the two competitions were again judged by Kathy Chantler ARPS (Chairman of the ImageZ Camera Club at Weston Turville) who has visited LBPC on numerous occasions, both as a judge and as a speaker.

After completing the judging and congratulating the winners, Kathy said she had found it “the hardest job of the year” and praised the high standard of the entries.

After looking again at the top print and the top digital image, and some careful deliberation, Kathy declared that the overall winner was the print:

“Tree Magic in Autumn Colours” by David Marlow

UPDATE: However, following Wednesdays competitions, a Stewards Inquiry was held by the committee. Following exhaustive research, hot debate and a house-to-house search, conducted by a retired law enforcement officer & Scotland Yard representative which un-earthed the missing Cup, the Committee declared that there are in fact two separate competitions, each with their own trophy.

If you didn’t know, you can post your comments at the bottom of the page. Engage with other Members and share your thoughts on the entries and judging.
