On Wednesday 12 November we hosted Wantage CC and Watford CC on Zoom in Round 1 of this season’s CACC (Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs) Rosebowl Competition.
Under the Rosebowl rules, all rounds of the competition are now run online.
The Rosebowl is the CACC’s premier inter-club competition. It is an annual Projected Digital Images competition and consists of a series of three “rounds”, run from October to February, in which random groups of three or four clubs are matched against each other.
For each match, each club submits 15 images. The images are marked out of 20 and, after all the images have been marked, points are allocated to each of the clubs according to their order by marks awarded – 5, 3, 2, and 1 points for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place respectively.
The twelve CACC clubs with the most points after all three rounds then contest the Rosebowl Final.
21 clubs are participating in the Rosebowl this season.
Our independent judge for this match was Alan Taberer from Imagez Camera Club (in Weston Turville), a very experienced photographer and CACC judge of club and inter-club competitions. He has critiqued and judged at the club many times.
After Alan had carefully assessed and marked all the images, the marks were aggregated and verified on the spreadsheets and the results were as below.
- 1st – Watford CC with 272 marks – 5 points
- 2nd – Leighton Buzzard PC with 262 marks – 3 points
- 3rd – Wantage CC with 242 marks – 2 points
The top scoring images were
- “Stork” by Sandra Eve (Leighton Buzzard) – 20 marks plus a star
- “Female Blackbird with Berry” by Alison Jenkins (Watford) – 20 marks
- “Fighting at the Feeder” by Wendy Taylor (Leighton Buzzard) – 20 marks plus a star
- “Determination” by Peter Prosser (Watford) – 20 marks
- “Grizzly” by Martin Patten (Watford) – 20 marks
- “Eye Catching” by Lloyd Moore (Watford) – 20 marks
The Final will take place live (ie, not run online) in Amersham at the CACC Rosebowl Day on Sunday 26 April 2026.
