Our Creative Vision Award competition took place for the first time on Wednesday 21 May.

Sponsored by past-Chairman Mike Kitchingman ARPS, who has also provided the trophy, this internal competition will be an annual event.

Announcing this new competition earlier in the season, Mike said

“As you all know, my great love is artistic and creative photography in all its varieties and over the past few years, I’ve seen how you’ve all embraced the concept of visual art in your images.  This has driven my decision to sponsor an annual trophy, the “Creative Vision Award”, which will be assessed for originality of concept and faithfulness to the theme.  The theme will change yearly, but the same basic tenets, namely creative photography embracing visual art will apply”.

The theme for 2025 was “low-key minimalist”.  The Programme Notes added that “This can be a still life or portrait, a landscape, an abstract, ICM, multiple exposure, monochrome, or colour, but remember … the subject is secondary to the concept.  Be aware of negative space, placement of subject and directionality within the frame.”

The competition permitted both prints and projected digital images.

Entries included still lifes and close-ups, landscapes and seascapes, architectural details, shadows, colour and monochrome, and more.

Our independent judge for the competition was Kathy Chantler ARPS from Imagez Camera Club (Weston Turville).  She is immediate past-Chairman of the Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs.  She is also a very experienced photographer and CACC judge who has visited the club many times.

After Kathy’s detailed critiques and thoughtful deliberations, the results were as below.
