The first internal club competition of the 2020-21 season took place on Wednesday 16 September. As print handling is impracticable in current circumstances, the Committee has suspended all print competitions until further notice. Accordingly, our competitions are being confined to digital images.

So this was an “open” competition for digital images.  As usual, entries displayed a wide variety of subjects, approaches, and styles – including landscape, seascape, cityscape, candid/street, animals, flowers, colour, and monochrome, and more.

Our judge for the competition was Martin Patten DPAGB, LRPS, BPE4*, QPSA.  Martin is a professional photographer, the former president of Watford Camera Club, and the current President of the Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs.  He is also an experienced judge.

Before commencing, Martin explained that he had been sent the images in advance.  So rather than judging on Zoom, he would be basing his assessment on the original digital files as submitted.  He also explained that his marks were likely to vary between 12 and 20 and that the appropriate score for “an average camera club image” was 16 marks.

Marks for this competition count towards the season’s Projected Digital Image (PDI) League Championship (Sections One and Two) – see the Internal competitions, Rules for Entry 2020-21, page of the website for details.

Each entry was marked out of 20.  The top performers were as follows:
