Photo Edit Challenge (Round 2) - June 2020
Back on 6 May, we ran the original Photo Edit Challenge. SEE HERE for a full report. Such was the enthusiastic response that we were unable to show all the submitted images. So on Wednesday 17 June, we ran Round 2 of the Challenge, again using the now-familiar Zoom conferencing.
This was based of course on the same five “donated” images. And, as before, at the start of each section the original image was displayed so that everyone could see the starting point for the transformations that followed.
Also as before, our judges for Round 2 were Kathy Chantler ARPS and Alan Taberer from Imagez Camera Club who took it in turns to provide the lead critique on each image and give detailed feedback on the success or otherwise of the processing input. They even contributed some of their own versions!
At the end of the evening the results were:
- 1st place – “Playtime” by Terry Godber;
- 2nd place – “Ballachulish Sunrise” by Chris Warby;
- 3rd place – “The Tower” by Stuart Brook;
- Highly Commended – “Ballachulish Sunrise” by Stuart Brook;
- Highly Commended – “The Tower” by John Curd;
- Commended – “Forever Thine” by Roger Turner.
Congratulations to Terry – for producing the most successful interpretation of his own original image!
Post-processing is an essential skill in digital photography. An image from the camera can be made into something marvellous or something awful. This challenge was a great opportunity for people to explore and extend their skills in a sympathetic environment and benefit from the expert feedback of two experienced judges. Both rounds were enjoyable, interesting and extremely helpful for photographers at all levels.
