The annual LBPC competition for Audio-Visual Presentations – the AV Competition – took place on Wednesday 25 May 2016. This is an “open” competition and the rules are set out in the LBPC Handbook 2015-16.

This year the competition was judged by the experienced Les Spitz ARPS (a founder member of Pinner Camera Club and a regular visitor to LBPC).

Les is an accomplished producer of AVs himself and explained how he judges AVs by reference to the pictures/photography, music/soundtrack, AV technique (such as transitions), and impact/watchability. He had pre-viewed all the entries – and claimed that he had already changed his mind several times!

There were six entries displaying a variety of approaches, subjects and techniques. The results were:

· 1st place – “The Traveller” by Mike Kitchingman;
· 2nd place – “Tzarist Russia” by Barbara Fleming;
· 3rd place – “Lonesome Train” by Roger Gage.

Congratulations to Mike for his winning entry! Les particularly praised the brilliant soundtrack, good photographs, excellent transitions, good use of archive material in the introduction, and clever ending.
