On Wednesday 19 November we hosted the second match in our group stage of the annual NW Fed Competition.
This is an inter-club competition between nine members of the Federation of NW London Photographic Societies.
The group stage of the competition sees the clubs compete in groups. Each club hosts a match in its group. The winners of each group go forward to the semi-finals.
For each match, each club submits 10 images – five prints and five projected images – different ones for each match. The images are marked out of 20 and the marks are aggregated over all the group matches to determine the winner of the group.
The competition has been running for over 25 years. But this is only the third time LBPC has been involved. We are in a group with Pinner CC and Croxley CC. This was the second match.
Our independent judge for the competition was Colin Mill from MK City Photographic Society, a very experienced photographer and CACC judge. He has judged competitions at LBPC on numerous occasions. He is a prolific amateur photographer who, although primarily a landscape photographer, is equally at home photographing almost anything.
After Colin had carefully considered and marked all the prints and then all the projected images, the marks were added up and the results were as below.
- 1st – Pinner CC with 183 marks (prints 90, projected 93)
- 2nd – Leighton Buzzard PC with 182 marks (prints 94, projected 88)
- 3rd – Croxley CC with 179 marks (prints 86, projected 93)
The top scoring prints were
- “Fighting at the Feeder” by Wendy Taylor (Leighton Buzzard) – 20 marks
- “It’s Mine All Mine” by Barry Kesler (Pinner) – 20 marks plus a star
- “The Barbers Dog” – by Clive Rayment (Leighton Buzzard) – 20 marks plus a star
The top scoring projected images were
- “Natasha” by Alan Rhodes (Pinner) – 20 marks plus a star
- “The Romantic” by Wai Cheung (Pinner) – 20 marks plus a star
Our first match in the group took place on Monday 10 November at Pinner – when Pinner also won, Leighton Buzzard came second, and Croxley were third.
Our third match in the group was at Croxley on Thursday 27 November.
