Strange! 25 votes at 3 votes per person … And ‘Woody”s editor didn’t vote for themselves. Very strange… It would be good to see this competition well supported. Perhaps a prize would help?
Discuss – or please do something.
Yes, the voting patterns are strange. I’m hoping that we can at least present a certificate to the winner at the end of season prize-giving event. It would be great if the club would adopt it into the formal fold of club comps moving forward. But it probably needs to justify its existence, which means being well supported. I’ll admit I have been struggling with the issue of how we get members more interested. Short of offering a cash prize as an incentive not sure how we do that. Any suggestions welcome.
I would hate to see it go as this is the only oe I enter and think its good one for beginners. Question – Why do the pics have to be taken in 2018?
Hi Laris,
Why 2018? No real reason other than an arbitrary limit set by me. A lot of these type of competitions follow the strict criteria of taking a photo for that month, ie take and submit your photo for the month of March 2019. With the deliberate purpose of forcing you to take a new image and not relying on one you took some time ago. I felt that was too aggressive for our club members, so tried to strike a balance. When we move into next season we will move the date limit up. Not sure what yet. Had a couple of conversations with members on what would be appropriate, but no decision yet. Happy to get your thoughts on it.
