Last Wednesday (3 April) LBPC staged a Photo Quiz for its members

As the Programme notes put it – “A familiar object from an unfamiliar angle.  Stump everyone with a picture of an object from an odd angle.  PDIs only, an interactive quiz. Guess what it is.”

Sadly, the Programme notes added “No prizes for successful entries, unfortunately.”

Compèred by the indefatigable David Marlow, another exciting evening rolled by as some 40 odd (and some, very odd) images were projected for our amusement and examination.  Members shouted out their suggested answers – and other banter.  Sooner or later the author of each image confirmed the identity of the object in question and a rather more conventional view was then projected.

The objects, mostly shot in close-up, included a three-point plug, a light pull, a pine cone, a roll of solder, a mop bucket, a corkscrew, staples, a citrus reamer, a teasel, a can opener, a potato ricer, eyelash curlers, and a cygnet’s beak.  Clearly, some dark corners of garages and kitchen drawers had been rediscovered.

Martin Wood probably provided more puzzling images than most people, particularly his “Herb Pot”, “Mug Handle” and “Radiator”.  While Terry Godber provided the most puzzling object with his “Knitted Wattle”.

All good clean fun and an interesting photographic challenge.  The Chairman has threatened another of these competitions.  So all members should get their macro lenses out and start rifling through their drawers!
